1. Who we are and who these terms apply to

4muddypawz is operated by Dean Laval trading as 4muddypawz. "4muddypawz", "we", "us" and "our" mean Dean Laval trading as 4muddypawz.

These terms apply when you create an account, use the 4muddypawz app, try the Marker Game without an account, submit training clips, receive AI-assisted feedback or use training materials.

By using the app, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal information.

2. The service

4muddypawz provides AI-assisted dog-training feedback and educational guidance. It helps owners follow a guided training pathway, practise short games, record training clips, receive feedback and track progress.

The app may include:

  • training instructions and videos
  • game pathways
  • recording and upload tools
  • AI-assisted video feedback
  • automated assessments of whether a clip shows what a game is looking for
  • progress tracking
  • reports and suggested next steps

The app is a training aid. It is not a substitute for professional judgement, veterinary advice, emergency help or in-person support where that is needed.

3. Account eligibility

You must be at least 18 to create an account.

You must give accurate account information and keep access to your email account secure, because we send one-time sign-in links to it. You are responsible for activity on your account.

4. Dog training safety

You are responsible for your dog, your filming environment and your training decisions.

You agree to:

  • supervise your dog at all times
  • choose a safe training space
  • use suitable rewards and equipment
  • stop if your dog appears distressed, injured, frightened, over-aroused, aggressive or unsafe
  • avoid unsafe handling, force, intimidation or punishment
  • avoid training near roads, hazards, uncontrolled dogs or other unsafe distractions
  • seek qualified professional help where needed

Do not use the app in an emergency. If there is an immediate risk to a person or animal, stop and get appropriate help.

5. Not veterinary, clinical behaviour, legal or emergency advice

4muddypawz does not diagnose or treat pain, illness, injury, aggression, anxiety or any other health or behavioural condition, and it is not a substitute for a veterinary surgeon.

The app may notice visible training or handling patterns, but it cannot replace:

  • a vet
  • a qualified clinical animal behaviourist
  • an accredited in-person trainer
  • legal advice
  • emergency services

If your dog shows signs of pain, fear, aggression, persistent distress, sudden behaviour change, or a risk to people or animals, stop the exercise and seek qualified support.

6. AI-assisted feedback

Feedback is produced automatically using third-party AI services, as described in our Privacy Policy. It is based only on what can be seen and heard in your submitted clip, and it may be incomplete or wrong, for example if:

  • the dog is out of frame
  • the handler's hands are hidden
  • the audio is unclear
  • the clip is too dark, short, distant, shaky or noisy
  • the wrong game is selected
  • the relevant behaviour happens off camera
  • the dog's body language is ambiguous

Where the app suggests repeating a game before moving on, that is guidance for your practice, not a judgement of you or your dog.

Do not rely only on AI feedback for decisions about your dog's safety, health or behaviour. You remain responsible for deciding whether feedback is suitable and safe for your dog. If you have questions about feedback on a clip, email info@4muddypawz.co.uk.

7. Training outcomes and user responsibility

4muddypawz provides educational content, training pathways, progress tracking and AI-assisted feedback to support dog-training practice.

Dog-training outcomes depend on many factors, including the individual dog, the handler, the environment, consistency of practice, timing, reward delivery, equipment and safety decisions.

We do not guarantee any specific training outcome, behavioural improvement, rate of progress or result from using the app.

You remain responsible for deciding whether any exercise, recommendation or feedback is appropriate for your dog, your environment and your circumstances.

8. Uploaded content

You keep ownership of the videos, photos and other content you upload.

By uploading content, you give us permission to host, store, copy, process, analyse and display that content as needed to provide the app, generate feedback, manage your account, provide support, check and improve the quality of our feedback, and enforce these terms. This includes sending it to the service providers described in our Privacy Policy.

This permission is limited to running and improving the service. We will not use your videos, dog photos, name, testimonial or reports in public marketing unless you give separate permission.

9. Upload rules

You must not upload content that:

  • you do not have the right to upload
  • includes other people without appropriate permission
  • includes children unless you are the parent or guardian or have appropriate permission
  • shows cruelty, dangerous handling or illegal activity
  • includes private information such as addresses, phone numbers, private conversations or identifiable information about other people, unless necessary and appropriate
  • infringes someone else's rights
  • is abusive, discriminatory, threatening, obscene or unlawful
  • is designed to interfere with the app or its security

We may remove content, refuse to process it, suspend access or close accounts where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

10. Training materials and intellectual property

The app, training content, rubrics, reports, designs, text, graphics, video materials, code and brand assets belong to us or our licensors.

You may use app content for your own personal dog training. You must not copy, resell, publish, scrape, distribute, use to train a competing system, or commercially exploit app content without our permission.

11. Service availability and processing delays

We aim to keep the app available and useful, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Processing may be delayed or fail because of connection problems, poor video quality, provider downtime, queue load, AI errors, maintenance or other technical issues.

We may update, pause, withdraw or change features as the app develops.

12. Price

The Puppy Academy is currently free for anyone with an account who has added a dog profile. There is no subscription, card requirement or payment to access it, and we do not currently take payments in the app.

If we introduce a paid product in future, we will show the price, what is included, how long access lasts, any renewal terms, how to cancel and the refund terms before you choose to buy it. We will not move you onto a paid product automatically.

13. Earlier purchases and your consumer rights

If you bought Academy access before it became free and have a question about that purchase, or believe you were charged in error, contact us at info@4muddypawz.co.uk.

Nothing in these terms removes or limits any rights you have under UK consumer law.

14. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • misuse the app
  • try to access another person's account
  • interfere with the app's security or processing systems
  • reverse engineer, scrape or copy the app
  • upload malicious files
  • use the app to create competing services without permission
  • use the app unlawfully
  • harass, threaten or abuse us or other users

15. Third-party services

The app depends on third-party services, including hosting, storage, authentication, AI processing, email and bot-protection services.

We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control, but we will use reasonable care in choosing and configuring them.

16. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close your account if:

  • you break these terms
  • we reasonably believe there is a security risk or misuse
  • your use creates legal, safety or operational risk
  • we need to do so to comply with the law

You can stop using the app at any time and ask us to delete your account, subject to the limited retention described in our Privacy Policy.

17. Limitation of liability

We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under rights that cannot be excluded under consumer law.

Subject to that, the app is provided as a training support tool, and we are not responsible for:

  • outcomes that depend on your handling, environment, dog, equipment, consistency or safety decisions
  • losses caused by unsafe use of the app
  • losses caused by following feedback where it is unsuitable for your dog or environment
  • problems caused by poor clip quality or incomplete information
  • losses that were not reasonably foreseeable
  • business losses, where you use the app as a consumer

18. Changes to the app or these terms

We may update the app and these terms as the product changes. If the changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.

If you keep using the app after changes take effect, the updated terms will apply, unless the law requires a different process.

19. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep any protections given to you by the laws of the place where you live, and you may bring proceedings there.
